Methodology

Every game page on this site is assembled from two public datasets — the Steam Store catalog and the Metacritic aggregate review archive.

Data sources

  • Steam Store catalog — official release metadata (name, release date, developer, publisher, price, supported languages, platform support), plus the aggregate positive/negative review counts per title.
  • Metacritic critic aggregate — per-platform aggregate critic score published on Metacritic, covering commercially reviewed releases. Coverage is densest for 1995–2021 and tapers for later years.

Scoring & ranking

The Steam positive percentage is computed directly from the raw Positive/(Positive+Negative) ratio — we do not adjust, weight, or smooth. The Metacritic score is reported verbatim, using the highest-scoring platform entry when a title has multiple platform listings. Games are included on the site if they have 200 or more Steam reviews; this threshold is intentionally conservative to avoid thin-content pages on niche releases.

Refresh cadence

Source data is re-pulled weekly; game pages are regenerated when any source field has changed. Reception labels (Very Positive, Mixed, etc.) follow Steam’s published thresholds.
